Lea Feinstein pushes the sculptural potential of Tyvek — cutting, sewing, pleating and weaving new and recycled works — transforming them into vibrant new forms. “Chrysalis” explores the body as armature; a scaffolding for tyvek skins that occupy a space between costume and sculpture.
Taken from the transformational stage many insects/butterflies pass through, chrysalis is neither larva nor butterfly, but the cocooned gestational stage, where extreme formal changes occur under wraps, inside a cover.
