“High Tide is a story of the impending disaster.
Tornados demolish rural homes, turning our lives into scattered debris.
The rise of skyscrapers cast shadows on to our scorched earth, leaving the destitute outside to be swallowed by the harsh elements of nature.
The tide is high and the earth is dry.” – Sensie
High Tide pushes the boundaries of traditional painting, transforming Sensie’s practice into an experimental journey of medium and display. Drawing from her childhood experiences in East Houston—an industrial landscape marked by machines, smog, and vibrant family life—Sensie reinvents her painting studio as a laboratory for new visual narratives. Her works reflect on the idea of home as both a sanctuary and a site of memory, confronting notions of decay and revival.
In this latest body of work, Sensie combines a variety of materials and formats, rethinking the possibilities of how painting can communicate. With elements that blur the lines between two-dimensional and sculptural practices, the pieces in High Tide evolve Sensie's ongoing engagement with storytelling through artistic form. Her innovative approach to the medium encourages viewers to reconsider the relationship between space, art, and emotional experience.
