Rusha & Co. is proud to present LA TINTA NEGRA Y ROJA FORJANDO LAS PALABRAS CON HIERRO, the first solo exhibition by Jimmy Centeno, a South Central native who is an artist, welder, and scholar. Drawing from his local environment, Centeno uses materials sourced from the streets of his neighborhood, as well as the areas surrounding the gallery, to create works that reflect his deep connection to the community and its history.

Rusha & Co. is excited to present Chispa, a solo exhibition of editioned collage works by Los Angeles artist, curator, and spiritual worker Ever Velasquez. Velasquez appropriates the language of advertising, pulling photographic images from her vast personal archive of magazines and recombining them in vibrant, energetic compositions that speak to the visual and attentional onslaught of modern life. The works offer a positivity and gentleness that is often at odds with contemporary motives. She proposes a kinder, more connected way of being through celebrations of beauty and sisterhood, life and community. The world she creates is inherently spiritual, its currency blessings and care, its existence an acknowledgement of the divine in all of us.

Rusha & Co is pleased to present Sierra Love in her debut solo exhibition, Gestures. Drawing inspiration from Josef Albers’ observation that color is always in flux, continuously shifting in relation to its surroundings, Love explores the fluidity of color as well as the broader dynamics of process and form. Rather than working toward a predetermined image or structure, she begins each piece with an open-ended “What if…” which allows the work to develop organically.
Central to Love’s process is a sense of tension and risk. The risk is essential, as it serves to juxtapose the slow, deliberate techniques of crocheting and tufting. These time-intensive methods enable Love to form a deep connection with each piece, continually pushing the boundaries of color, composition, and form.
