Join us in the Wende Museum garden for a new performance, What Remains Un/Seen. T
Choreographed and directed by HDD Founder and Artistic Director Heidi Duckler, What Remains Un/Seen is a new work that will revisit HDD’s 2019 piece, “What Remains,” which debuted at the Wende and was part of a larger project halted by the pandemic.
The performance will navigate the deep waters of surveillance and societal control, inspired by the themes of the Wende Museum’s exhibition “Counter/Surveillance.” This compelling work invites audiences into the inner garden, where Mexican-American Scenic Designer, Efren Delgadillo Jr. will transform it into an enigmatic space. Here, movement and mystery converge in interactive vignettes where HDD dancers animate the silent dialogues of observation. These performances subtly reveal the tensions between visibility and the unseen, offering a nuanced examination of the dance between the observer and the observed.
Alongside the choreography, the atmosphere is infused with haunting live music and intricate soundscapes that echo through the space, crafted from a blend of live performances and electronically altered sounds that underscore the theme of surveillance. The experience is deepened by transient set designs, where ephemeral structures and vivid multimedia projections warp the boundaries of space and secrecy, forging an environment that invites audience interaction and contemplation.
Admission is free with a suggested donation of $20.
