Gallery 825, LAAA, proudly present solo exhibits opening on Oct 26:
Richard S. Chow's solo exhibit, Present Tense, showcases an innovative series created through alternative cameraless photography. This collection features lumen and cyanolumens prints, offering rich, layered compositions that engage both the eye and the mind.
The title Present Tense symbolizes the re-purpose of vintage mediums into contemporary art. His work harnesses the elemental forces of light and nature to produce abstract imagery, capturing themes of impermanence and unpredictability. Through this analog process, Richard embraces the concept of "slow photography," where each piece becomes a unique record of time, imprinted directly onto photo paper. This cameraless approach fosters deep contemplation and meaningful time investment in each image. Through this meditative practice, the exhibit calls for a pause in the rush of modern life to appreciate fleeting beauty that often goes unnoticed.
