Sing Doo Wah Diddy! – An ‘L.A. Story’ Live Music Happening
8980 Santa Monica Boulevard West Hollywood CA 90069
Wednesday, December 11 at 6:00 PM 8:00 PM
Ends Dec 11, 2024
Ah - deep, sustained, booming sounds. Around nine, nine-fifteen. When Steve Martin’s character in the movie ‘L.A. Story’ (1991) is asked by his love interest, played by Victoria Tennant, what’s the best time to make ‘deep, sustained, booming sounds’ in Los Angeles, little does he know she plays the tuba. Join us for an evening of music from ‘L.A. Story’ with recorded tunes and live performances–featuring special arrangements for strings, woodwinds and brass–including a rendition of ‘Doo Wah Diddy’ for tuba. This musical happening will take place in the exhibition inspired by the film that was written by its star Steve Martin as a love letter to Los Angeles. Listen to the works of Enya, Manfred Mann, Django Reinhardt and Charles Trenet, among others, while viewing works of art made in and about Los Angeles. This event is free to attend, however, reservations are recommended.
