Bridalxxxpo (Elizabeth Quezada-Lee & Emily Lucid) perform HELD with a sound piece by John Bryars at Last Projects this Friday at 7pm. Bridalxxxpo is a performance art collective of two women(Lucid and Quezada-Lee) who collaborate on experimental performance art works that deal with notions of mirroring, intimacy, relationality and intersectional feminism. HELD will be an endurance performance where the artists embrace on the gallery floor for as long as they are able to once HELD has begun. HELD is part of a series of performances taking place at the experimental group exhibition EDEN curated by Lucid at Last Projects. Gardens are inherently queer spaces of indeterminate or intersex living things (plants) arranged by intellectual aesthetics. In the beginning, everything was queer. The fourth iteration of Emily Lucid’s curatorial series EDEN will be a meditation on beginnings. Queerness is inherently a beginning; a marginalized, indigenous and anti-colonial state of being. Everyone and every living thing and every element on earth is queer to an extent. EDEN is an investigation into where it all began and perhaps by retracing our steps we just might sink our teeth into new perspectives on and intersections of the land, the divine and the marginalized human body. EDEN will feature 46 contemporary artists working in photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, video, performance, and technology.
