Islam, Judaism and Christianity all share the story of human experience beginning in a garden. Gardens are inherently queer spaces of indeterminate or intersex living things (plants) arranged by intellectual aesthetics. In the beginning, everything was queer. The fourth iteration of Emily Lucid’s curatorial series EDEN will be a meditation on beginnings. Queerness is inherently a beginning; a marginalized, indigenous and anti-colonial state of being. Everyone and every living thing and every element on earth is queer to an extent. EDEN is an investigation into where it all began and perhaps by retracing our steps we just might sink our teeth into new perspectives on and intersections of the land, the divine and the marginalized human body.
