Join in to celebrate the opening of exhibitions focused on bird feathers in art, both traditional and innovative. Chris Maynard will give an Artist Talk at 2:00. Opening reception and featherwork demo by Boris Huang 3:00–5:00pm. Chris Maynard carves feathers into intricate shapes and arranges them into elegant compositions. His delicate artwork highlights the natural beauty in the patterns and colors of the feathers themselves and speaks of flight and transformation. Boris Huang mastered the longtime Hawaiian tradition of featherwork and now creates leis, capes and other adornments infused with his Taiwanese background resulting in objects that blend cultures as well as eras.
