Artist Priscilla Mondo invites audiences to engage in the complex entanglements between human activity and the Earth. A Master of Fine Arts candidate at Otis College of Art and Design 2025, Mondo presents her solo thesis exhibition, Metabolic Fictions, at the Bolsky Gallery with a reception on February 27th, from 6:30 – to 8:30 pm. This thought-provoking installation transforms daily discarded materials into striking hybrid sculptures, urging reflection on humanity’s impact on the Earth and the possibilities of change.
Examining the dualities of destruction and adaptation, stagnation and resilience, decay and rebirth, Mondo employs materials such as cardboard packaging, plastic, photography, and even compost made from her own kitchen scraps. Through these, she creates imaginary worlds with new hybrid forms - speculative beings - and regenerative systems that emerge unpredictably from humanity’s intricate ties with the natural world.
Currently based in Southern California, Priscilla Mondo is a Brazilian artist whose works embrace different disciplines fueled by curiosity and material exploration. Her academic background includes BAs in Advertising & Marketing (2012) and Journalism (2015) from Fluminense Federal University in Brazil, which shaped her critical perspective on how we consume the world—whether through natural resources, goods, culture, or media.
