Joaquin Villarino is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist known for his futurist-expressionist style in murals, oil paintings, and beyond. Originally from Chile, Joaquin’s artistic journey is inextricable from his personal life; injecting emotions and memories directly into his work. He began painting chaos as a reflection of childhood trauma, but after undergoing a personal rebirth, he realized his art directly reflects the perfection of life through the idea that everything is as it is meant to be. Joaquin studied Graphic Design and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from San Diego State University (SDSU). During that time, Joaquin won Best in Show for an oil painting which the university bought and still hangs in the halls today. His acclaimed "Inner-Child" collection was showcased at the Culver City Art Walk, and sold out entirely. The success of this collection solidified his place as a contemporary art visionary, drawing eager minds and eyes to connect with his evocative work. Other artistic achievements include exhibitions worldwide, multiple awards, and a feature in Playboy Mexico's prestigious art book.  During the pandemic Joaquin discovered tattoo artistry. This led to the establishment of Alium Tattoo Studio, a five-star parlour known for its elevated experience, innovative approach, and high artistic standards. It features dedicated space from which Joaquin can work and showcase his art. Joaquin's process is spontaneous and intuitive. Dance and physical dynamism are integral to his creative process. His upcoming exhibition, "The Shedding," unmasks his transformative vision by incorporating movement and mixed media to create immersive experiences. This approach results in art that captures and captivates raw energy and emotion. It feels alive. Joaquin envisions his art like music—inviting and transporting viewers to join in the journey. To get lost in it. His compositions possess a rhythmic quality; layers of color and texture harmonize to create an experience that resonates far beyond the visual. Joaquin's presently working on “Polarities,” a new collection exploring duality; light and dark, past and present, harmony and cacophony. He captures tension and balance between opposing forces through striking contrasts, layered textures, and dynamic compositions.
