la BEAST proudly presents “Paintings”, a solo exhibition of timeless artworks crafted by artist Michael Norton. Prominently focused on the traditional medium of egg tempera, Norton renders atmospheric, geometric, gateways, professing the existence of a vast expanse. Shifting between the familiar and the ethereal, Norton’s delicate panels possess a quiet intensity; being both inviting and strangely intimidating. As if painted a millennia ago, his surfaces feel historic, defiant of modernity, asserting an exquisite vision of antiquity that no longer exists. ‘Paintings’ opens with a reception on Saturday, March 29th, from 6-9 pm at la BEAST gallery in Cypress Park. The show will conclude on May 10th.
