The Wende Museum invites you to a full day of art, music, and ideas—from the launch of a new open storage section to a campus-wide celebration of intellectual and creative life.
We begin at 2 p.m. with the festive unveiling of Angela Davis and African American Cold War History, a new open storage display guest-curated by our 2024 Getty Marrow curatorial intern Taylor Sanders. Presented in conjunction with the following FRAMEWORKS concert, this display spotlights solidarity beyond borders.
FRAMEWORKS is a new interdisciplinary music series for 2025 designed to take audiences on an adventurous cultural and artistic journey in the state-of-the-art A-Frame Theater at the Wende Museum's Glorya Kaufman Community Center. The series merges creative disciplines, from film and dance to poetry and music, and takes inspiration from the collection and exhibitions of the Wende.
UNDERGROUND is a music performance by Teira that explores the impact of the Cold War on jazz, electronic, and alternative music culture, inspired by the Wende Museum's exhibition, Counter/Surveillance: Control, Privacy, Agency. The concert will begin at 4PM, preceded by a DJ set at 3PM by Ashla Chavez Razzano.
“Songs have always been used to inspire, transmit coded messages, and breakdown idealogical walls that hinder human connection. This performance is a meditation on resilience, collaboration, and experimentation under the weight of surveillance.“ —Teira
Ensemble:
Teira — Voice
Marcus Anthony Mack —Keys/Synths
Karl McComas-Reichl — Bass and Cello
