Sharon Hayes: ‘Ricerche: four'
250 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012
Tomorrow, June 21 at 3:00 PM 4:00 PM
Ends Jun 21, 2025
Ricerche: four is an interview with three groups of LGBTQIA elders, from Philadelphia, PA, Dowelltown, TN, and Los Angeles, CA, the last in a 4-part series in which Sharon Hayes interviews different groups across the US about sex, sexuality, gender, love and living. This work, featured in the 2024 Whitney Biennial, is a joyful, illuminating and deeply moving conversation in which participants reflect on their relationships to community, family, activism, sex and sexuality as well as to changing political landscapes. While not all participants identify as elders, they each speak from deep and long experiences that shape their understanding of social, political and economic promises and possibilities as well as of challenges for them and their communities. These conversations make an inspired proposition for the importance of intergenerational collaboration, dialogue, and care. The eighty-minute video will be followed by a discussion with four of the LA-based project participants: Bamby Salcedo, Miss Loretta Lorraine, SheAh Prince Eternal and Carolyn Weathers.
