Tierra del Sol Gallery is proud to present All About Me, the debut solo exhibition of Jeffrey Rinsky. Stepping beneath the metaphorical Big Top of Jeffrey Rinsky: All About Me, visitors are greeted by a joyous celebration dancing in rhythm with delightful absurdity. Electric color fields and striking lines fill Rinsky’s world from edge to edge, with his vigorous application of media echoing the chaos of creation. All About Me is a circus untethered by the laws of reality, governed only by the artist’s profound sense of whimsy. Vivid figural paintings take center stage in a parade of Wicked Timelords, Pet Werewolves, and Psycho Santas. These outrageous characters extend their paws and claws, beckoning you to join in their revelry. Rinsky’s slab-built ceramics imbue the space with a bodily immediacy that implies creatures from another dimension have already entered our world. Meanwhile, soft sculptures introduce a contrasting material language that speaks to the gentle actions of play and comfort. Collapsing the divide between observer and subject, Rinsky complements traditional modes of making with lifesized “face-in-the-hole” panels, inviting viewers to become participants in these fantastical scenes. Though Rinsky grew up in a Jewish household, he delights in Christmas, creating festive artworks year-round. This body of work comes to life in the gallery’s Annex Space, now transformed into a merry "Christmas in July" experience. The halls are decked with a glowing fireplace, an adorned Christmas tree, and cozy furniture. The heart of the installation is a looping video artwork displayed on a retro TV. A warm, nostalgic glow permeates the room, capturing Rinsky’s enduring love for the comforting rituals of the holiday season. All About Me is braided with elements of futurism, fantasy, and everyday life. One moment, Rinsky is locked in an intergalactic battle; the next, he’s conjuring golden afternoons spent with best friends. His titles read like short stories hinting at a greater saga. Comedy and tragedy meander a tonal tightrope, but Rinsky’s unbridled exuberance dispels the whisper of danger. Darkness exists, yes, but it is always amicably unmasked like a funny monster in a kitsch horror film. All About Me celebrates the artist’s uncanny ability to befriend anyone. It is a tribute to stories with happy endings and the beautifully eccentric spectacle of being alive. Jeffrey Rinsky’s All About Me opens Saturday, July 12th, with a reception from 6 to 8 pm. The exhibition will be on view through August 30th, 2025.
