Join OXY ARTS on Saturday, September 20th for this season’s first Making Space art workshop! Making Space is a FREE, all ages art workshop series, where we create projects inspired by the current gallery exhibition.
Workshop #1: Bookbinding & Natural Ink
September 20, 1-4pm | 4757 York Blvd.
In this workshop, we will use the saddle-stitch method to combine papers of various textures to create our own unique books. To adorn our homemade books, we will make inks from natural materials such as dried hibiscus, turmeric, and purple cabbage.
Our current exhibition–Flesh of the Forest, curated by Tiffany E. Barber–features nine contemporary artists from the African diaspora who engage with the forest as a rich, multilayered site of history, memory, sensation, and feeling through sculpture, painting, film, and installation. We invite you to come create art in the immersive space of this exhibition!
Please register using the link below! RSVP is suggested but not required, so please walk-in even if the registration is full.
