Maryam Taba Studios is proud to present Carnival of Dreams, a solo exhibition of Iranian artist Adel Younesi, whose paintings conjure uncanny worlds where memory, myth, and spectacle collide. With a palette at once austere and luminous, Younesi stages a surreal theatre: elephants wander through forgotten kingdoms, Farrah Diva and the Shah appear as spectral icons, and human figures drift among improbable beasts and banners of color. In his hands, history becomes a masquerade and imagination a stage set, where the boundaries between the real and the unreal dissolve into dreamlike procession. Aboout the Exhibition: Carnival of Dreams brings together new and recent works that transform the gallery into a space of shifting realities, part myth, part memory, part hallucination. Each painting offers an invitation into the uncanny: animals as symbols of endurance, icons as fragments of collective nostalgia, and figures as both witness and participant in a dream they cannot escape. Curator's Statement: “Adel’s work captures the moment when history feels like theatre, and memory takes on the logic of dreams. In Carnival of Dreams, we walk through a parade of symbols that are beautiful, unsettling, and unforgettable.” — Maryam Taba, Curator and Founder of Maryam Taba Studios. About Adel Younesi: Born in Hamedan, Iran in 1985, Adel Younesi has exhibited internationally with shows in Tehran, Paris, and Berlin. His practice is known for merging archival memory with surreal invention, crafting works that hover between the mythic and the contemporary.
