Laura Stinger will present a live performance within The Spigot Makes the Mouth Real, joined by collaborators Miles Brenninkmeijer, Serene Bloin, Ivanna Baranova, and Alexsa Durrans, featuring a soundscape by musician Nire Cuana. The performance expands on the installation’s exploration of eco-grief, resource extraction, AI, and invisible labor through shifting materials and dynamic performative systems.
Each sculpture in the installation will be activated during the performance. These high-lithium glazed ceramic works—pipes, vessels, prosthetics, and drainage systems—trace the full arc of lithium mining, from geological time to consumerism. These sculptural forms do not merely reference infrastructure—they embody its failures: leaking, burdened, strained.
As performers move through the space, improvising within a structured score, they merge with the installation, becoming extensions of it. Water flows through their movements as lithium flows through machines, as grief flows through the body. In Stinger’s work, choreography becomes a system of consumption and collapse—of care, waste, and what remains.
Space is limited—please arrive early! This event is free and open to the public.
The exhibition will be on view until October 18th, 2025.
