A performance by choreographer Megan Paradowski and flautist Daniela Mars. In response to Vanessa Conte’s current solo exhibition RIDE. Saturday, October 18th, 2025 Performance begins promptly at 3:00PM 413 S Fairfax Ave. LA, CA 90036 Paradowski (choreographer) and Mars (flautist) respond to Vanessa Conte’s works through an embodied dialogue of sound and movement. Paradowski’s choreography takes direction from the figures form and movement within Conte’s painting. Mars’ flute merges breath and motion, building a rhythm shared between sound, dance, and the works on view. Megan Paradowski is an LA-based choreographer and founder of Empara, an experiential dance company. Under her direction, Empara creates non-traditional contemporary performances and films, often site-specific and immersive. Most recently, she was a resident artist at L.A. Dance Project for LAUNCH:LA 2025. Megan holds a BFA in Dance from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and has choreographed and performed across the U.S., Europe, and Mexico in venues including The Aster, Soho House, 2220 Arts + Archives, the Museum of Neon Art, NAVEL LA, and Hosek Contemporary Berlin. Her work has been featured in publications such as the LA Times, Autre Magazine, LA Dance Chronicle, and Fjord Review, and she has received grants from the German Consulate General in Los Angeles and the U.S. Embassy in Cyprus. Megan’s choreography explores theatricality and risk-driven movement, breaking boundaries between mediums to craft visceral, transformative experiences. Daniela Mars is a flutist and composer whose work explores themes of connection, memory, and transformation. Known for her distinctive voice and expressive use of the contrabass flute, she creates immersive sound worlds that bridge acoustic and electronic textures. Her latest album, Heartweaving, features original compositions that intertwine intimacy and power, performed in collaboration with artists including Christophe Duquesne and countertenor Barnaby Smith.In addition to her solo work, Daniela is a sought-after recording artist and has been featured in several film soundtracks, including the Alien Earth series. Her music has been praised for its emotional depth and imaginative sound palette, often drawing inspiration from personal stories and the natural world. As both performer and composer, she continues to expand the expressive possibilities of the flute family. Vanessa Conte studied painting and art history at New York University, where she graduated with a BS in Art History and Studio Art in 1999 and later moved to Los Angeles to study at UCLA, where she received her MFA in 2004. She began her exhibition career in Germany, where she has since exhibited at Kunstmuseum Baden, Solingen; Kunst im Tunnel at Kunsthalle Duesseldorf; Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof, Hamburg; Halle fur Kunst, Luneberg; Sammlung Philara, Schmela Haus, and Van Horn Gallery, Duesseldorf. After moving back to Los Angeles in 2009, Conte earned her MA in Linguistics at Cal State University, Long Beach and subsequently continued to regularly exhibit in Europe. In 2023, Conte had a large-scale solo exhibition at Kunstbunker: Forum fur zeitgenoessische Kunst, Nuremberg. Conte has also exhibited at venues in Los Angeles, such as California State University, Dominguez Hills, the Torrance Art Museum, the Chan Gallery at Pomona College, Commonwealth and Council, Human Resources, and Night Gallery.
