Gateless Gate II: Ritual of Returning Act II of a Three-Part Trilogy Presented by a poco art collective Opening: Sunday, December 14, 3–6pm On view through January 25, 2026 4505 S Slauson Ave, Unit 317, Culver City, CA 90230 “The gate has no gate. Approach, and it closes. Stop approaching, and it opens.” The second chapter of the Gateless Gate trilogy steps into the womb-space of a poco art collective — a room held low to the floor, scented with tide and breath, arranged as a soft threshold rather than a gallery. Here the koan does its quiet work: form unfastens, edges blur, and artworks behave like membranes, not objects. Visitors leave their shoes at the door. The body lowers; the senses rise. Sandeep Mukherjee’s duralene surfaces tremble like weather caught between worlds. Relational (Dana Berman Duff & Shirley Tse) bend the window into a lunar aperture, while Douglas Farrand’s tidal score drifts through the space with the patience of moons. Stella Zhang’s textile forms draw breath into folds and voids. Nancy Evans lets cosmic desire bloom in silhouettes that hover between icon and echo. Flora Kao stains light into cyanotype: butterflies flicker, memory unfurls, a question hangs in the air — "Am I dreaming the world, or is the world dreaming me?" Constance Braden’s Six Chakras align on black paper like small, radiant thresholds. “When the Buddha held up a flower, Mahākāśyapa smiled.” No doctrine, no explanation. The transmission happens in the pause. This exhibition turns toward that pause — the moment before meaning hardens, the breath before return. "Ritual of Returning" does not seek nostalgia. It seeks recognition, the quiet realization that what you have been searching for has been waiting at the center of your own body all along.
