Internationally acclaimed, animal inspired, performance artist and writer Sara Debevec to perform at Southern California’s hub of experimental theater, Highways Performance Space Highways Performance Space, Artistic Directors, Leo Garcia & Patrick Kennelly are proud to present: Sara Debevec, with her newest multimedia work Fish Tanks at the sixth installment in an ongoing series, SOLO DOLO 6. A spellbinding journey through self-discovery and coming of age in a multilayered society, Fish Tanks explores hybrid identities through avant-garde cabaret, physical theatre, spoken word, original music and striking visual design. Landana (half fish, half woman) explores how much we are willing to sacrifice to establish a sense of belonging. Using an old portable radio for a mouth, she tells us the tales of her ancestors and what it means to have both gills and legs. As a female performer who attempts to embody unusual animal archetypes on stage, Debevec aims to break boundaries of subjectivity and gender classification using her body. Sara Debevec is a Serbian - Polish multimedia performance artist and writer known for her work through Europe, Asia and USA. Debevec has performed at numerous prestigious venues around the world including Pioneer Works in Brooklyn, USA; The Roundhouse in London, UK; Gólya Presszó in Budapest, Hungary; Greenhouse in Berlin, Germany and Konak Square in Izmir, Turkey.
