The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery (LAMAG) proudly announce S/Election at Barnsdall Park (4800 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90065). The public is welcome to attend an opening reception on Sunday, October, October 16th from 2-5 p.m. to experience the politically poignant exhibition, which utilizes art as a vehicle to engage important conversation amidst a highly charged presidential election. On view from October 16, 2016 through January 8, 2017, S/Election examines the work of some of Los Angeles most prominent contemporary artists including Charles Gaines, Ramiro Gomez, Taisha Paggett, Gelare Khoshgozaran, Ruben Ortiz Torres, and Linda Pollack, all of whom ignite conversations about citizenship and democracy in America. Under the curatorial direction of newly-appointed LAMAG Curator, Erin Christovale, and Art Center Director, Isabelle Lutterodt, the exhibition provides an alternative platform for artists and the public to participate in civic discourse.
