“Antiphony, Otherwise: Friday Joy Night Service” is a sound art event that brings together musicians, singers, foodies and audiences to intentionally consider the role of the senses in Black religious practice and sacred traditions. To do so, “Antiphony, Otherwise” utilizes the Hammond organ instrument with its use in Black Christian worship to be the particular “site” from which questions about gender, sexuality, spirit, enfleshment can emerge.
