Carmina Escobar will be joined by the Banda Filarmónica Grandeza Oaxaqueña and Banda Filarmónica Maqueos Music (each 30-member Oaxacan youth brass bands, both conducted by Yulissa Maqueos), and the international recognized Japanese Butoh dancer, Oguri. Carmina Escobar has re-imagined a ritualized day of performance drawing on her experience growing up with processional ritualistic festivals in Mexico. Escobar merges memory and imagination into a window of possibility, pouring sound and movement in and around the lake to propose a syncretism that reclaims a presence in the space.
