Parade Vol. 1
1206 Maple Ave Los Angeles, CA 90015
Saturday, February 22 at 7:00 PM 10:00 PM
Ends Feb 24, 2020
Parade is pleased to announce its first group exhibition, “Parade Vol. 1”, featuring seven Los Angeles-based artists at the Bendix Building in Downtown LA, February 22nd to the 24th. The exhibition is curated by Haley Roemen and highlights emerging photographers and painters in a 3-day exhibition, part of a larger format planned to travel to other cities. Parades create an obstruction and an offering. They embrace impermanence to celebrate or revere what might not otherwise be held aloft. Parades originate from joy as well as pain, presenting the viewer with series of commemorations, personas, aesthetics and meditations in a chorus at times harmonious and at other times disjointed. Though brief, the performative element of parades invite audiences to wait, to observe, and to meaningfully experience something private in public. Artists include Divya Akhouri, Sebastian Kriz, Milena Mallory, Austin Manley, Sarah Gilfillan, Peter Dawson, and Marshall Roemen. An opening reception for the artists will take place in room 100A at 1206 S Maple Ave. on Saturday, February 22nd from 7-10 PM. A closing reception will be held Monday, February 24th from 6-9 PM.
